Reflect

Many of the programs were familiar to me from working at a High School. It amazes me how many things you can get for free that we used to have to pay an arm and leg for. Watching movies for free. Who would have thought. I thing that I am even more upset that I live out in the sticks and an unable to get high speed and still have dial up. Many of the programs are not available to me in my home.

I am happy to keep up with what's going on. I started working with computers in 1984 after my uncles opened a computer store. What a difference.

My only request for the future is that you schedule anything like this in a time other than summer. It has been a chore to get it in to my super busy schedule. I feel like I didn't have time to enjoy it. Another option would be to have more time to work on each item. I felt rushed and I'm sure I missed out. thanks!

Games

I liked Yahoo games as it was more user friendly. The puzzles were quick and fun. The other two had lots of advertisements. I liked Primary Games the least. It reminded me of a lazy teacher. What can I say.

Maps

This is so fun. I could spend way too much time here. I went to Pakistan, California and on a dizzying trip around Lake Stevens.

Online Applications

I still like microsoft even if I have to pay for it. I'm not comfortable with having my information out there so much. I like having some of my files on my computer and not in the air. Sounds like I'm getting old and set in my ways. I'm also used to the microsoft stuff. It's easier to me. But then I remember using Wordstar and thinking it was the best thing ever. I resisted changing...

Search

We did lots of work on Search Engine in Library School for an Internet class. I hadn't seen Rollyo or Mamma before. I search "nose poetry." I liked the clean look of Mamma more than Rollyo.

Podcast

I looked at Learn Out Loud - Intro to Poetry

This would really be good for students. Not only does it provide the information that they need, but they can listen to the words, learn to say the words correctly and get the timing right. I look forward to looking at more of these.

Toys!

This is right up my alley. I've been working with graphics programs, clip art and all that fun stuff for quite a few years. It's nice to get familiar with new sites.

Downloadable media

I'm still waiting for my book to come in. I'm still on the waiting list, I think. I've been too busy to look... I'm familiar with this though from other libraries I worked at.

8/19/08 My book is now available to download. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait and read it before it was available.

Wiki

I did the wiki thing. It would be fun for things like family reunions, group planning. In the library it could be good for events with many members. I liked looking at the Book Lover's Wiki.

YouTube, Hulu & Fancast

I am familiar with YouTube already. I looked at the library fairy with her pink hair and tutu. The kids were involved. I looked at Scott Westerfeld and heard about his new series.

On Fancast, I watch a little of Alias Smith and Jones and Love Boat. It might be interesting...I'm not really into television.

Hulu seemed to be more trendy. New shows (no interest for me), but I did watch some of Alien vs. Predator. That was fun. I will look into them more.

Facebook

Okay did the facebook things. I asked Ann, Zin and Conrad to be my friends.
